Gravel stone and pea shingles are a natural and permeable driveway solution. Select Paving can supply and install gravel driveways with options on colours, stone size and custom bordering styles.
Gravel stone is made by extracting natural rock from a quarry and then crushing and grading the stone to the desired size.
Pea shingle is produced the same way but is of smaller stone size and more suitable for garden areas and low-maintenance flower beds.
Stone size can play a significant part in the durability of a driveway, with smaller stones being crushed by vehicles; this is why we recommend at least 14mm stone size for a driveway.
The sizes range from 4 to 10mm on pea shingles, 14mm upwards to 25mm for gravel driveways, and 50mm to 100mm for areas with heavy vehicle traffic.
The most common colours we install for customers include Ballylusk Quartzite, Ballylusk Gravel, Stone, Wicklow Gold, Rustic, Grey and Plum.
You can see multiple examples of gravel stonework completed by Select Paving and a wide variety of bordering styles, including cobblelock and block paving.
